About the Role:

We are looking for a Product Specialist 1 to join our team and support the scheduling and administration of batch workloads in mainframe and distributed environments. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in BMC Control-M, JCL, and system troubleshooting to ensure smooth operations and optimal performance of critical IT processes. You will collaborate with technical teams to resolve issues, implement improvements, and maintain the security and efficiency of scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule predefined jobs using BMC Control-M/EM and modify existing jobs as required.
  • Manage, monitor, and analyze batch workloads across mainframe and distributed systems.
  • Identify abends and utilize JCL to resolve issues promptly.
  • Analyze alert and shout messages to determine severity and follow escalation procedures when necessary.
  • Communicate system performance, issues, and SLA risks with support staff and management.
  • Provide troubleshooting expertise for systems and application code.
  • Consult with IT management and technical teams on emerging technologies and process improvements.
  • Ensure security and operational efficiency of scheduling systems.
  • Manage job executions in a Prox environment for mainframe and distributed applications.
  • Write and deploy shell scripts to automate repetitive tasks and improve workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Provide technical support for batch workload and job scheduling.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience with BMC Control-M for scheduling and managing batch jobs.
  • Expertise in JCL, SDSF, and IBM TSO/ISPF.
  • Experience with Tivoli for identifying server problems.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow for incident management (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of mainframe administration and distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in writing shell scripts for automation.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to analyze system logs, respond quickly to alerts, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Experience in disaster recovery procedures and following escalation processes.
